Vaccinering
I tisdags blev alla tackor vaccinerade mot gasbrand. Eller det är egentligen lammungarna man vaccinerar, när de sedan dricker råmjölken får de i sig vaccinet, så kallad passiv immunisering. Gasbrand är en hemsk sjukdom som drabbar de största och finaste ungarna. När de börjar äta gräs får de i sig en bakterie, clostridium, och ligger sedan döda. Fruktansvärt! Vaccinet Heptavac är dyrt, cirka 3000 kronor för hela vår besättning. Men räddar det tre lammungar så har man igen summan. Och både tackorna och vi lider när ungar dör.
Det finns vanlig Heptavac och Heptavac P-plus. Den senare är lite dyrare men skyddar inte bara mot gasbrand utan också mot lammdysenteri, brådsot, frasbrand, stelkramp samt pneumonisk pasteulleos ( någon lunginflammation tror jag). Tackorna får skydd mot systemisk pasteulleros. Vi hade förut en del bekymmer med lunginflammation på äldre, högdräktiga tackor men vi har inte haft några fall sedan vi började med Heptavac P-Plus så jag tror det gör nytta. Pälsfår får lätt lunginflammation.
Min a-kusin Jan hjälpte Hemmansägaren att vaccinera alla tackor. Han och hans fru, Inger, har efter pensioneringen köpt en gård i Linde där de har en pälsfårsbesättning. Vi hjälper varandra lite då och nu och det är vi jätteglada för. Tack Jan för all din hjälp i tisdags! Och tack Inger för att du servade med mat! Gimbrarna ska vaccineras en gång till om fyra veckor så då ses vi väl igen!

Gasbrand låter hemskt! Måste man vaccinera? Eller finns det någon annan lösning när man släpper dem på bete?

Ja, jag tycker man ska vaccinera, det finns ingen annan lösning. Det är inte kul att förlora ungar i onödan. Och som sagt, det är alltid de största som dör, de som först kommer igång med att äta gräs. Era gimbrar ska vaccineras en gång till, om tre veckor, innan vi leverarar dem. Har inte hört nåt från Mickas så Jonas får nog köra ner dem till Skåne.
